Nancy O'Dell started her career in the broadcast industry as reporter for WPDE-TV, Myrtle Beach South Carolina. In the following years, she worked as a the morning news anchor as well as a crime reporter for WCBD-TV. The articles written by O'Dell in Charleston concerning how Charleston police dealt with DUI cases with leniency caused an investigation by State Law Enforcement Division. The inquiry led to a stronger direction for state officials. Ms. O'Dell won the Best Report of the Media Award South Carolina by the Associated Press.
