Nicole Ari Parker, an American actor, who has been featured in films and TV, in addition to on stage, is most well-known for playing Teri Joseph, a flamboyant attorney in Showtime's Soul Food. Contractor Born at Mumbai in India and grew up in Nigeria up until she turned seven. She'd been exposed to many different travels and cultures from a early age. She attended boarding schools between the ages of 7 to 9 in London. After that her family moved back home to Toronto (Canada) which is where they lived for the rest of her childhood. Contractor trained in classical ballet in Toronto. She also excelled academically. She was a student at the Etobicoke School of the Arts, a specialized public arts high school in which she was not just a dancer but also studied theatre. At 16 after a decade of years of dancing, Contractor discovered she was looking to study acting professionally. As she finished high school, she was offered a full tuition scholarship to University of Toronto where she studied theatre with a double diploma in sociology and psychology. After one year at University, Contractor went to an open audition for the play Pericles at the prestigious, world-renowned Stratford Shakespeare Festival [Ontario, Canada and landed the lead role. After the show ran for 92 times, she was rewarded with praise from the audience. The play was deemed one of the most successful productions by Canadian critics. The actress accepted an invitation to join Stratford's conservatory. It is a place that allows only four males and eight women can take a 20 weeks crash course of classical theater. The role was secured for Contractor during the upcoming season of shows as she was offered the role in A Midsummer Night's Dream.
